Blackjack · Marked cards

On 7 and 8 June 2026, police in Jeju say six hotel-casino staff used marked blackjack cards with three Chinese tourists at Gold Mountain Casino, a foreigner-only room at the Jeju Shilla Hotel. On 11 September the Jeju National Police Agency referred those six officials, including dealers, to prosecutors for fraudulent gambling. The casino company was referred as well, for failing to supervise the game.

Blackjack only works if neither side can read a card that is still face down. Police say dealers and other officials marked backs and edges so the people at the table could see what was coming. The three tourists had already left the country before they could be interviewed.

Jeju’s casino monitoring system and the National Forensic Service flagged the marks. Proceeds were put at about ₩100 million, roughly $70,000 in US dollars. Inspectors seized decks and video.

Charged cases stay alleged until a court finishes them.

  • A tourist party that will not leave that dealer.
  • Marks on the backs or edges you can see under a glass.
  • Staff who walk a guest onto a quiet blackjack table.
  • One party that cannot lose, then they fly out.
