Three Thousand Bonuses

Two Glastonbury men were indicted for using about 3,000 stolen identities to farm FanDuel and other bonuses for about $3 million.

On 3 February 2026 a federal grand jury in New Haven indicted Amitoj Kapoor, 29, and Siddharth Lillaney, 29, both of Glastonbury, Connecticut. Prosecutors say they farmed sportsbook bonuses with roughly 3,000 stolen identities, mostly on FanDuel. They were arrested the next day and released on $300,000 bond each. A court still has to decide guilt.

A new-user bonus is only money if the account is a real person. Stolen names turn that into a farm. Prosecutors say the pair bought personal data on the darknet and Telegram, then used lookup sites to pass the identity questions. They opened the accounts, took the credits, and moved the cash onto stored-value cards, then into banks they controlled.

The alleged window runs from 2021. The take was put at about $3 million. Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection Gaming Division and IRS Criminal Investigation worked the file. DCP said it sent identity-theft notices to more than 1,200 people whose names were used.

The indictment lists 45 counts, including wire fraud, identity fraud, aggravated identity theft, and money laundering. Charged cases stay alleged until a court finishes them.
